Gotta Play Games

Privacy Policy

Effective May 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Gotta Play Games LLC (“Gotta Play Games,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile and web games, including Skip the Salad, and any future games we release (collectively, the “Games”).

We try to keep this policy plain and readable. If anything is unclear, please reach out using the contact information at the bottom.

1. Who we are

Gotta Play Games is a family-owned game studio operated by Gotta Play Games LLC, a Utah limited liability company. You can reach us at:

  • Email: privacy@gottaplay.games
  • Mailing address: Gotta Play Games LLC, 1285 N Canyon Creek Pkwy #1021, Spanish Fork, UT 84660-1319, United States

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a stable account identifier and your email address from the provider. If you choose to share it, we may also receive your display name and profile photo URL. We do not receive your provider password.

You can also play anonymously without signing in. In that case we create a temporary account identifier on your device so you can save game progress.

Profile information you provide

  • Display name
  • Avatar selection (an in-game cartoon icon, not your real photo)
  • Optional username (your “handle”)
  • An auto-generated friend code so other players can add you

Friend and social information

If you add another player as a friend or accept a friend code, we record the connection so both players can see each other in their friends list. If you send a game invite, we record which friend(s) received it and which game room it was for.

Gameplay information

  • Match history (which games you played, scores, dates)
  • Game state for online matches in progress
  • Online presence (whether you appear online to your friends)
  • Achievements and unlocked content
  • In-game settings (sound, music, language preferences)

Device and diagnostic information

To keep the Games working and to fix bugs, we collect:

  • Device type, operating system, and app version
  • Crash reports and error logs (via Sentry), which include the device model, OS version, JavaScript stack traces, and a brief log of what happened in the app immediately before the error
  • Push notification tokens if you grant notification permission, so we can let you know when a friend invites you to a game

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how players use the Games. Google Analytics may collect information such as the pages or screens you view, your approximate location (city level, derived from IP address), the type of device you use, and how you arrived at our website. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Purchase information

The Games may include optional in-app purchases (for example, additional toppings or content packs). These purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your credit card or banking information. We receive only a confirmation that a purchase succeeded, the item purchased, and a transaction identifier so we can unlock the content for your account.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Games
  • Save your progress, profile, and settings
  • Connect you with friends, deliver game invites, and run online matches
  • Send you push notifications about friend activity (if you opted in)
  • Diagnose crashes and improve performance
  • Process in-app purchases and unlock the content you bought
  • Send marketing emails about new games, features, or announcements (only if you opted in; see Section 7)
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers we need to run the Games:

  • Google Cloud / Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions, push notifications). Google stores game data on our behalf.
  • Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, push notifications). Apple processes sign-in and payment data per their own policies.
  • Google (Sign in with Google, Google Play payments, Google Analytics).
  • Sentry (crash and error reporting). Sentry receives diagnostic data so we can fix bugs.
  • Expo / EAS (over-the-air updates, push notification routing). Expo delivers app updates and forwards push messages.
  • Email service provider (Resend, for marketing emails when you opt in). Resend receives your email address and the messages we send. We store your email and the categories you opted into in our own database (Cloudflare D1) so we can keep your preferences in sync between our website and our email service.
  • Cloudflare (website hosting, DNS, and bot-protection on signup forms via Cloudflare Turnstile). Cloudflare receives the requests we route through it and uses non-tracking signals to verify form submissions are from real people; it does not fingerprint visitors or sell information.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. In any such transaction, we will require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy.

Other players in the Games can see information you choose to make visible: your display name, avatar, handle, friend code, online presence, and match results from games you played with them. They cannot see your email address or device information.

5. Children’s privacy

The Games are intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us at privacy@gottaplay.games and we will remove the data.

6. Push notifications

If you grant notification permission, we may send push notifications to alert you about friend activity, game invites, or important account updates. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.

7. Marketing communications

With your explicit consent, we may send marketing emails about new game launches, beta access, deals, and a monthly newsletter. We use a double opt-in flow: when you submit your email through a form on this site, we send a confirmation email first, and you only receive marketing email after you click the link in that confirmation.

You choose what you want to hear about when you subscribe (new game announcements split by web / mobile / physical, beta and early access invitations, promotional emails, monthly newsletter), and you can change those preferences anytime via the “manage preferences” link in any email we send. You can unsubscribe from everything in one click by following the “unsubscribe” link in any marketing email or by emailing privacy@gottaplay.games.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect transactional emails (for example, password recovery or purchase receipts), which we send through different systems and only when you do something that triggers them.

8. Data retention

We keep your account information and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except for limited data we may need to retain for legal, fraud-prevention, or accounting reasons.

To delete your account, sign in to the Games and use the “Delete Account” option in Settings, or email privacy@gottaplay.games from the address associated with your account.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Delete your personal information
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on consent to process data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@gottaplay.games. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

California residents: the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, the right to opt out of any “sale” of personal information (we do not sell), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. You can submit a request to privacy@gottaplay.games.

Residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland: we process your data on the legal bases of contract performance (to operate the Games), legitimate interests (to improve and secure the Games), consent (for marketing emails and analytics where required), and legal obligation. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (TLS), Firebase security rules, and authentication. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever discover a security breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

11. International data transfers

Our service providers (Google Cloud, Apple, Sentry, Expo) may store and process your data in the United States or other countries. By using the Games, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the one where you live, including the United States. We rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

12. Third-party links and services

The Games and our website may link to third-party services we don’t control (for example, our social media accounts on Instagram, TikTok, X, or Facebook). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Please review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the Games or by email. Your continued use of the Games after the changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
